Weekly Blog 7 : Travel Note of America : The Griffith Observatory πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

When it comes to Los Angeles, most people think of it as the second largest city in the United States and often referred to as the City of Angels.

Los Angeles has a lot of famous classic scenes, such as Hollywood, Universal Studios, Santa Monica Beach, etc. However, it is not these famous places that make me linger, but The Griffith Observatory and the Salvation Mountain, which is hundred kilometers away from Los Angeles.

Griffith Observatory is located on a suburb hill of the center of Los Angeles, which is one of the landmarks of the city. We drove on the road at about three in the afternoon, and as soon as we got up the mountain, the vehicles lined up. When we approached the top of the mountain, the vehicles began to park on the roadside in an orderly manner. So, although there is still some distance to the top, we parked our car and continually climbed more than 3 km of steep slopes.

Although the road to the summit is long and arduous, from the moment we reached the top of the mountain, all the hardships and tiredness no longer exist, and only joy remained in my heart. Looking from the observatory, Los Angeles is so beautiful.

It’s still early, there are more than three hours before sunset, so we decided to visit the observatory. There, I watched a 4D dome movie for the first time, learned about the nebula universe and black holes, and saw a lot of knowledge that I had never known before, so time passed slowly.

The night gradually came, and the sun disappeared little by little. πŸŒƒ

When I walked out of the room, it was already dark. Visitors are standing or sitting in groups of three or five, admiring the beautiful sunset and the lights gradually shining in the city. The night is really beautiful at this moment, but what really touches me is the beautiful picture of people getting along with friends and family.

Some people sat or lied on the grass, and many people also find a comfortable fence to sit on. Hugging couples, teenagers who talk about their ideal life in the future, chatty girls, everyone is enjoying a happy time with their family, couples, and pet dogs.

Among them, the scene of two teenagers talking on the high wall reminded me of a song by David Bowie which called Heroes. David screamed over and over in this song: “We can beat them, Just for one day, We can be heroes, Just for one day”. It seems that in such a situation, everything seems to be possible and hopeful. I like this feeling. It’s okay to say that I’m crazy, dreaming, I want to be a hero, just one day.

By seeing this scenes, I suddenly feel that the time that enjoying the night views with my friends is also a precious memories in my whole lifetime. I have heard many people say the reason of why they love a city, some says the scenery, the food, and others say the trivial things.

For me, the reason I love Los Angeles is also trivial. I just saw the scenes that I have always wanted to experience, such as enjoying time with friends and family, hugging each other and watching a sunset together, enviable .
